Wii Rock Band 2
Rock Band 2 is video game that is currently available on the Wii gaming system. Rock Band 2 allows the player to use special controllers that are shaped like musical instruments to play along with popular songs. Up to 4 different people can play together and form their own rock band. Lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals are the four different roles that you can choose. There are 84 different songs on the game that range from the 60′s to current day music.
When playing either guitar or drums, notes will scroll down the screen and the player has to play the appropriate notes on their instrument. The game play is essentially the same for all three of the instruments, they will just be playing different notes that correspond to their instrument. Playing the correct notes will score the band points and allow you to continue to play the song. The singing element of the game is dramatically different from playing the instruments. The player uses a USB microphone to sing the lyrics of the song that the band is currently playing. If the player does not sing the lyrics in the correct pitch as the original song, then their score will be affected. After the song is over, the combined score of all of the band members are put together to determine the overall score of the band. Based on the score, the band will receive a rating between 1 and 5 stars.
All of the unlocked songs can be played at anytime in the Quick Play game mode, but the main game mode on Rock Band 2 is the Tour Mode. Tour Mode is designed to simulate life on the road as a real band. Once your band starts, you will be playing in small clubs and bars for small amounts of money. Once you have earned enough money, you can buy a bus so you can play in cities near your hometown. At each gig, the band is given a set of songs that they must perform. To complete the gig, the band must be able to complete the song with at least a 3 star rating. The higher the star rating on each song during the gig, the more money the band will receive. As you progress, the band will be able to play larger gigs and earn more fans. The larger gigs will require the band to play more songs and get a better star rating before they are able to progress.
